page up, page down for z axis not working
« on: April 17, 2026, 02:10:34 PM »
- mach4 hobby
- installed a new computer (thinkpad 540p)
- installed all software including mach4 (with latest update)
- mach4 works correctly EXCEPT for the page up/page down function for the z axis
- put old computer back, all works well including page up/down
- put new laptop back, still no page up/down

soooo, obviously it's a configuration, not mechanical issue.
i do not know how/where to fix the configuration.

Not sure this will help but…
In Diagnostic / Keyboard Inputs check that Page Up / Page Down illuminate when you press those keyboard keys. If not then change the key allocations (usually 33 / 34) to match your 540p keyboard.

Tweakie.

If it is a number keypad make sure NumLock is off.

I ran into the same thing after moving Mach4 to a newer laptop. Everything else worked fine, but Page Up/Page Down wouldn't jog the Z axis until I checked the keyboard input assignments. It turned out to be a keyboard mapping issue rather than anything with the machine.

How can I verify or modify the keyboard mapping in Mach4 to ensure that the Page Up/Page Down keys are assigned to the Z-axis movement?

Go to Configure, Plugins then Keyboard Inputs
Next to Z+, in the Key column click and it will change to Select.
Press the key you want for Z+ movement.
Repeat for any of the others.
