Nema 34 and CNC Router Problem
« on: September 27, 2023, 02:27:41 AM »

Hello everyone,

I have DM556T drivers(https://www.oyostepper.com/goods-112-Digital-Stepper-Driver-18-56A-20-50VDC-for-Nema-23-24-34-Stepper-Motor.html)

and I would like to get NEMA 34 series motors for them. I have these two in mind and I'm not sure if I could go with the stronger one considering the drivers.

Or do you think that even the weaker one is on the edge and I should go even lower?
Controlled from PC via LPT port. It will be powered by a 36VDC switching power supply. Designed to drive the axes of a CNC router with a floor plan of 0.7 x 1.2 m (2x Y-axis, 1x X-axis, 1x Z-axis), ball screws with a pitch of 5 mm. Wood "alloys" will be machined.
Or do you think that NEMA 34 are unnecessarily oversized for such a machine and NEMA 24 or 23 would suffice?
Thanks everyone in advance for the constructive comments!
