MACH4 with parallel port

This is for anyone asking how to use parallel port with MACH.
Hopefully it helps someone.

Parallel port was made before I was born.

It would be like asking me how to use a rotary phone dial.

My advice to you, go buy a UC100 (or an other motion controller with a breakout board) and install Win 10 so you can use something made this century.

These are very simple devices that just go USB to parallel port, then you don't have to use old windows installs and hardware etc.

However to answer your question you need a few things for parallel port to work.

1: A Windows 7 or older PC. (32bit) (Yes XP works.)

2: This very old version of MACH4

3: The parallel port plugin from our website.

4: A license for the plugin.

5: A four leaf clover and wishful thinking.

If I missed anything someone else feel free to chime in :)

Potential Parallel Port users may also want to check that the Win7 or older PC’s Parallel Port outputs to the original 5 Volt TTL standard and not the later 3.3 Volt TTL standard.
