Mach 3 no communication with CNC machine
« on: March 19, 2021, 01:23:32 PM »
Hi All
I have the following problem can anyone Help?
My old computer was working ok with Windows XP but after a crash it is now U.S.
My new computer has Mach 3 installed but it will not drive the cnc controller. I
had an engineer fit a Parrallel card to run the cnc but it will not work. Is it due
to the 64 bit opperating system on the new machine? If that is so will the machine
work if i fit a parralell/usb converter lead?
As you have probably guessed I am a bit confused with this problem. Any help in
pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated?
Best Regards
Roy

parallel port will only run with Win7 32Bit or older.
all newer require a external Motion Controller, not just simple usb to parallel Adapter.
anything is possible, just try to do it.
if you find some mistakes, in my bad bavarian english, they are yours.

Hi thanks for the answer. Can you advise what Model Motion Controller I should fit?
My current computer is a Windows 10 Home M/c  Version 20 M2. Can I use other
software on this machine or does Mach 3 need to be run on a dedicated computer?
Regards
Roy

it depends on how much Money you whant to spend.

a 1:1 replace would be an UC100 (original no chinese chunk)

other's are (list is not complete and has no ranking)
-smoothstepper
-UC300
-UC400
-hicon
-CSLab

don't think about all this chinese controller's they are cheep but that is the only benefit.
anything is possible, just try to do it.
