ModBus and MHC2 setup with JY5300-2 controller
« on: December 02, 2014, 03:11:15 AM »
Hi,

took me few days, but finally I manage to configure the MIB 3020 machine with JY5300-2 and MHC2. Everything is working great, except the control of the machine from the MHC2 wheel, when the controller is in PC mode with MAch3 running. The readings between the DRO on the MAch3 screen and the MHC2 are synchronized, which (I think) means the modbus communication is working.
when I jog from keyboard, both DROs (pc and pendant) update.
If in Mach3 interface I go to MPG mode with TAB button, I can work the motors with the computer keyboard, but not with the wheel on MHC2.
When I go to MPG mod CAL, I can see that numbers update when i rotate the wheel om MHC2.
It also appears, that the MPG mode is disabled as fro the JOG Mode button i can only toggle between "Cont" and "Step" and the "MPG" stays off (dark).
maybe that's my problem? is there somewhere in the MACH3 setup where it needs to be turned on?

Here is my setup:

Here is the Manual for Jy5300-2 and MHC2:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...User_guide.pdf

I followed the instructions, starting from scratch few times, but I'm obviously missing something or there is an error in the documentation.
needless to say, I copied and enabled the brain file and did everything the manufacturer lists in the manual.
I suspect its something simple, but where is it?
Where did i screw up?

Thank you in advance!

After digging into all of the SW settings i finally found my mistake:
My original setup was as per pic1

and it works now with pic 2!
make sense!
Woooohoooo!

Hi seamaster:

I have been reading up on the JY5300-2 controller, and it looks like a very well thought out controller, as well as the Pendant.
Also, contrary to many comments about Chinese CNC controllers, and the poor or missing documentation, the manual and detail instructions are absolutely excellent, and in clear English.

The only down side I have come across so far is the driver board power chip. It currently uses the Toshiba TB6560 chip in the driver
board, which has been less than ideal. The newest Chinese driver boards are now using the Toshiba TB6600, which handles more current
up to 5amps, 36v, larger motors, and is better all around performance.

I am starting a small engraver/router build for my grandson, as well as one for myself, and am considering the JY5300-2 controller. It seems like a very complete control unit, with everything integrated. It would be difficult to build a control unit as compact and well designed as this product.  I am going to try to replace the driver board with one the newer TB6600 single axis drivers, if I can get the internal schematics, to make the proper I/O from the basic motherboard to the driver module.

Keep us informed on your little machine. This is the first one I have seen mentioned in the Mach3 forum.

By the way, always nice to see someone fix a problem like you did.

John

Thank you John,
So far I have extremely good impressions about the quality, accuracy and repeatability of this little machine. I have to be honest, I live in a condo, so I have not cut anything yet, waiting to get the machine to my boat first. But  had little pen modified and used the little CNC as a plotter. I could sweep along all axis left to right, front to back many times with high speed then redraw the object at the exactly same place right over the previous drawing.

I ALWAYS wanted one of these. Long time ago I bought steppers and controller board to make one myself but I was preoccupied working on my boat after my 8 1/2 hours at work, so the "Make CNC"  went in the never land...
Now my boat is in great shape and I cruised it down to Mexico last year where I will have more time for other things.
So I figure - what the heck for 900 bucks - and I bought this little machine :) what i like about it is that i can upgrade to 4 or 5 axis, and 3D printer too. But first I need to gain some experience, see if i like it or not and then go after upgrades.
I will be interested into your project with the drivers too. I already opened the controller, and the drivers are on daughter cards, which makes for great upgradability!
In a mean time my next challenge will be to disassemble it and transport down south to Mexico... Not quite clear how yet..  and not quite sure if by doing that if I would screw up any alighments too..
Take care
Seamaster

hi can you give me the MHC2_brain file I bought but didn't receive the cd from the manufacturer and got no response when asking to send the file!
