Starting Mach4
« on: September 05, 2020, 08:58:10 PM »
I have the Taig control for a ballscrew mill with encoders. The motors are just sitting on the floor hooked up not yet attached to the new mill.

I'd like to motor them with Mach4.

So I'm looking at this slightly out of date video (config dialog is different, but the same stuff is there just under tabs) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXuuGRACU1I
Turning things on, the steppers grab. They have power. Since I don't have limit switches, I followed the video and turned on home in place for XYZ. I disabled A.  I put 34 into the feed rate G01 like the video has.

Now I want to have it jog. Nothing.

What do people do to know Mach4 is talking to the Taig box?

So I found this video, so I'll go through the steps there to check:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftIE_M-NNLE

I got the motors going.  I had to reinstall the uc100 driver and update a firmware, which is something it never asked about before.
