OK. Now What? Mach2 question
« on: September 17, 2007, 09:19:07 PM »
Hmmmmmm. I've gotten Mach 2 to fire up the motors, but they don't seem to want to turn. Just vibrate.A lot. I'm certain I have them wired in right. So there must be something in Mach2 I'm not doing right. Tuning the motors Up or Down seems to have no effect. When I go to jog them, the crosshairs make BIG moves. BTW the motors aren't hooked up to anything at the moment.
Here is the setup;
Dell Optiplex GX 110 1100mhz
Campbel Designs breakout board
Gecko 201s x 3
Power supply 38V@10A
Mach2
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Hey Rusty, why not upgrade to Mach 3?

I doubt it will, I think you will get more help though. Mach 3 has a lot of benefits over Mach 2 I have heard and will have to trust, I have never ran mach 2. If you have a licenses for Mach 2, It will be good for mach 3 as well. :) Is this a new set up or was it running good and all of a sudden the problem poped up? You will have to set Mach 3 up manualy, the xml from 2 won't work with 3.

It's a new setup. I'm running the Mach2 demo. I'll try running the Mach3 demo and see if that helps. Will there be a conflict between the two drivers? Or should I just delete the Mach 2 driver altogether?

You can have Mach2 and 3 on the same computer no problem, only thing you ccant do is try and run them both at the same time

OK. That was no help at all. Goose egg on mach3.Even after dumping it drivers and all and reinstalling. In mach 2 ,However,The motors did smooth out at @ 10000 units with everything pegged to the max. Although they were very erratic, still.
Is there an optimum cable length for the motor cables? Could I be losing signal in mach 2 because of overly long cables?
