Sure, you can put that API call in a M code macro script.  Then just call that M code in your G code.

If I don't have a fixture setup, I typically start my machine and do a tool change via MDI to my edge finder or probe anyway, no matter what tool is the current tool.

If you have multiple ops in your code e.g. A adaptive roughing run the a Finnish contour both useing the same tool it save the mill going to G28 for a tool change

I am learning, not arguing.
If the same tool is used for the finish operation why would the CAM program insert a tool change?
I started to insert:
T1 M6
G43 H1
I just stops at the start of the program and a cycle start continuous but it guarantees that the program will not run without stopping to get the right tool afterwards.
