Mach2 Crashes Computer, setting change?
« on: June 13, 2007, 08:40:22 AM »
Okay, so I'm trying to get Mach2 to run on an older computer.  I have to try at least before I can justify buying another computer just to dedicated to my home built cnc.  The computer is an old laptop that has been cleaned of everything but Windows XP.  I also put in a new AMD K6-500mhz processor (yeah I splurged and spent $23).

So the computer actually runs nicely now and might end up being my daughters for writing papers and playing simple games.

My problem is that as soon as I start up Mach2, the computer crashes and restarts.  I know it's slower than recommended for running the program but I thought it was worth a try.  Is there a setting or something I can try to fix this?

Thank you,
Bob

Have you tried optimising your computer? you will find details here http://www.artsoftcontrols.com/optimisation%20XP.txt
Laptops can be problematic with Mach so you might not get any further but its worth a try.
