magnetic home switches
« on: June 12, 2007, 04:28:52 AM »
anyone use these? I'm having intermittent problems. Sometimes homing works fine but sometimes the first axis homes and then everything stops with the error message "home switch active". It seems that even after the "backoff" the switch hasn't opened again. Is there a way to increase the backoff distance or should I switch to mechanical switches?

Hi, Stirling

If your Debounce is at 0 set it to 2000 - 4000 may solve this problem, Config, General Config, "Debounce Interval" 2000.

Hope this Helps, Chip

Willem - not sure why your message isn't appearing here (got the email notification).

I don't have a g73 backoff under ports&pins/mill options. I'm using VR1.84 - is this the latest version?

Hi Stirling

I have deleted mi message because i think the answer of Chip is the correct answer.
Bud you have an old version of Mach3, a lot is changed since version 1.84.
Maybe it is a good thing to get the latest version.

Willem

Willem - Thanks, is Mach3 R2.00.065 the latest? I think I misread the downloads bit and just went foir the first I saw that was a lockdown i.e. 1.84.

afn09556 - thanks - set it to 2000, then 1000, then 500 and all seems fine now. I'm guessing these are millisecs and I should choose the lowest that works right?

Hi stirling

No 2.00,065 is not the latest.
If you go a little more down you see version 2.00.076 that is the latest.
The suggestion from Chip was a good one?
So a another happy user?

P.S.
If you are going to cut ferro metals magnetic switches are not the best home switches.
Chips can hit the switches and greate that way errors.

Willem

Hi Willem

Isn't 2.00.076 a development rather than lockdown version? - yes Chip's solution has done the trick. I'm a wood n plastic cutter so no problems with the switches I hope.

Hi, Stirling

I posted this in the wrong post yesterday, You may have already seen it.

Not knowing how your Magnetic sensors are wired, Thy may still be floating a low or high signal that close, Try adding a 2000 ohm resistor to there output to

Gnd. or +5 volts holding them hi or lo, Until a stronger signal pull them full on or off.

Using some Prox switches hear, There Opto Isolated and have a Pull down resistor on the switch side.

Hope this Helps, Chip
