Mach4 Turn Lathe Tool Table Questions
« on: December 05, 2016, 07:23:40 PM »
Hello - I'm a Mach3 user in the process of converting to Mach4.  I'm having problems with the Tool Table and how it applies to lathes.  I've observed the following while working in MDI:
1.  X Offset seems to work well.
2.  X Offset Wear doesn't seem to affect anything.
3.  Length appears to hold the Z-axis values and it works well.
4.  Length Wear has no impact on Z coordinates but it does effect a change on the X-axis.

Additionally, I don't see any columns related to Lathe oriented cutter compensation such as Quadrant or Tool Radius or Tool Radius Compensation.

I really like Mach4 and I would be sooooo happy if anyone can help me with this.   ;D

-Thanks

So...I found this document on the ArtSoft knowldegebase which made me realize I must be doing something wrong:

http://support.machsupport.com/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/73/4/setting-tool-offset-in-mach4-lathe

As it would turn out, I somehow got a tooltable.tls file in my profile that was geared for mills.  Once I copied a lathe tooltable.tls in to my profile folder, everything was good.

Mach4 looks awesome and I'm looking forward to using it!
