Mach4 4K Monitor Support
« on: October 31, 2016, 06:24:45 PM »
I'm completely stuck as how to use my new CNC machine. I have a WinXP and a Win7 Desktop that have been complete garbage, reinstalled windows a few times, etc. Nothing. So I grabbed my new Dell XPS 15 with the 4k display, and Mach4 works beautifully, except I can't finish my setup because I can't resize any of the columns or text. I've tried every display workaround imagineable, including editing the registry like I do on some other programs that don't scale properly.

Any idea what it takes to fix this? I can't read half the labels on inputs/outputs and settings.

See attached pictures for details.

Can you not just resize the columns with the mouse, run your cursor accross the headers and the mouse should change??

Nope, first column is not width configurable. I wish it were that easy.

Change your font size in windows to 100%

Hi res monitors can cause a lot of issues, because you often need to run larger font sizes, and it can be difficult to program for them.

Yeah that works, but not in reality. The text is like 800 micrometers tall and is barely legible a couple inches from the screen.  I think I can make it work for initial setup at least.

Well, I doubt that they are going to rewrite everything to support larger fonts. It can be a LOT of work, and is difficult to get to work in all situations.
As I said, this is a problem with a lot of programs.

I have 2 monitors, 32", and 2560x1200 resolution on both, via displayport.
Win 7 64 bit.
No issues.
Nvidia Quadro 2000, industrial graphics workstation, my main machine.

You can probably fix it via windows or graphics drivers font settings.
Yes its a hack, but..
