Backrouting Wood On A CNC ROUTER
« on: November 25, 2016, 05:07:05 AM »
I am trying to 2.5 d cut the image on the right of the attachment.

In some areas near the middle of the shape, the direction of cut is counterclockwise . My router rotates clockwise and - from my hand-held router use experience - that has always meant pushing in a left-to-right /CW direction. As shown in the image on the left.

Is it therefore safe to also cut from a right-to-left / CCW direction in a cnc router or is it wiser to adjust my VBA code to always arrange points to allow cutting only from left-to-right / CW only?

Cost is a considerable object, so I coded my own post-processing in Excel VBA.

Please help!

It's perfectly fine. The only difference is that you may find that you'll get different cut quality when cutting in different directions. The grain of the wood may also have an effect on quality.
