Any networking gurus here?
« on: May 26, 2007, 12:03:22 PM »
Hey Everybody,
I'm having some trouble getting my Grex up and running. I'm almost certain it has to do with the way my network is set up. I have pasted a link here in hopes of drawing more attention.

Thanks in advance,
Brett

Hi Brett,

It appears that your settings are correct. I would guess that your firewall is blocking the communication.

Thanks Jeff. I think you are right. I downloaded firefox to see if it made a difference. It all does well until I get to page 8 of the dummies guide. Click run, this is what I get. Is this a firewall setting in the router you think?

Hi Brett,

I would guess that your settings in the router could be causing the problem. If an IP address is being looked for for a specific period of time and cannot be found your browser will time out. It's sort of like when you go to a web site and the page is temporarily down. You get a error that the page cannot be found.

See if there are settings in your router that allow you to specify certain IP addresses as trusted zones/sites. You want to be sure that you are NOT running more than one firewall. It creates great havoc if you do.  ;D I have my firewall disabled on my router.

These are the only firewall settings I see in the router. Any suggestions?

Hi Brett,

Since I don't have the same type of router that you are using it's a little difficult for me to give any ideas/suggestions for the settings. I suggest shutting of the routers firewall if possible or setting it back to factory defaults. You could try having ALL your network connections active and rerunning the setup procedure for your router.
