Softlimits issue
« on: February 26, 2016, 01:01:45 PM »
Hello all,

I have set softlimits for all my axis with slow zone on all, but only the Y axis doesn't want to slow down. It stops abrupt and the "Softlimits System Movement Aborted" is displayed. The other axis are slowing down nicely and the softlimits aborted message is never displayed when jogging with my joypad. I have tried disabling all plugins and macros but nothing has helped.

can anyone tell me where should be the problem?

Thanks

Paul.

Hi, I know this might not help much but I experienced something similar - Mach3 would say that the softlimits had been reached before they had.  If I remember correctly the DRO showed the correct position for the machine but it somehow thought that it was within the limits (which it wasn't!).  Unfortunately I was never able to correct this (using Windows XP and Mach3 2010 Screenset) so I switched them off.  I have limit switches on all but the downwards-Z direction which can help (unless the machine wants to plough into the bed like it did earlier!).  If someone does have a solution I'd also most like to try it!

Unfortunately I was never able to correct this (using Windows XP and Mach3 2010 Screenset) so I switched them off.

This is interesting as I also have the Mach3 2010 Screenset.

Now I switched to the default screenset but the strange behaviour is still there.

A screenset typically has no effect on Mach3's operation. It's just different colored buttons and backgrounds, arranged a bit differently.

Hello Gerry. Now I was thinking to change back to only the default macros. Is this worth trying?

The macros have nothing to do with softlimits, and won't change how softlimits function.

I'm not sure when this started but recently I also had problems with homing. Sometimes when homing I got the "Limit Switch Triggered" and the Reset with active limit switch (automatic override) would not work every time. But this issues have gone by changing the Debounce Interval to 500.

EDIT:  scratch that, I think I've confused myself - it's been a few months.  I think I upped the Kernel speed to try and fix the 'Go to Zero' (using the 2010 buttons at the top).  Either that or adding a second PSU I think fixed it but I tend not to use it because once I've had automation problems I tend to try and simplify and manually control stuff.

I had a problem whilst homing too where it hit the softlimits sometimes but I upped the kernel speed and that seemed to fix it - my thinking was that Mach was struggling to output steps quick enough on the computer it's on.  (I was clutching at straws!)  But hey, if it works why fix it (which it now again doesn't :-D).  I don't think the screenset has been causing any of the issues - my understanding is that it's just an interface that gives the Mach3 base software commands (with the exceptions like auto-zeroing and so on)

I think it's time to try a fresh install.

I changed the Y motor velocity to 1/3 and the soft limits start working. But no I found that the manual g-code input behaves very strange. Entering G0 and G1 commands in both directions, the axis is moving 'mostly' in the + direction by an irregular amount. But the jogging and g-code files are running perfect. This is too much for me ... I will try with a fresh install.
