mach3 help
« on: January 26, 2016, 04:19:45 PM »
hi all,

Hoping some one can help me, I'm using Mach 3 to run a very small simple cnc router machine, Monday last t week I turned it on and showed a new employee how it all works and successfully made the job I was trying to achieve with no problems at all.
the next day we turned it on to again make some more of our chosen job and all of a sudden Mach 3 seems to be doing its own thing and trying to cut large circles / arcs in my material, I use cam bam to make my drawings in and have checked all y settings are as normal, I also checked by using a job in which the g code was written 12months ago and it does the same thing

Any information someone may be to give me would be greatly appreciated.

thank you Brendan

Somewhere along the line, your IJ mode got switched.
In Gen Config, it is either Inc or Abs. Whatever it is, reverse it.

See if that helps.

thank you for your reply,

I checked that setting you mentioned and also changed it to see if that helped,

If I change that setting when I load the g code I can see the circles in the display screen if I change it back I cannot see circles or arcs however it still seems to do its own thing.

After you change it with a file loaded, you need to regen the tool path.

Also check for G90.1 and G91.1 in your code as that will change it also.

ok,

so my question is I draw / design in cam bam but Mach 3 is what runs my router, so I am assuming the problem I'm encountering is in Mach 3 as all the codes and tool paths are produced in cam bam, but the problem I'm having is happening on jobs that the code was produced ages ago. sorry to go over things but I am still very vague on the complete operation of this stuff.

so is there a setting I have accidentally changed in mach3

Russ,

ok so are you telling me I cant mix cam bam and Mach 3 together, because I have been successfully doing this previously for 2.5 years, the g- code is produced by the cam bam software and all I have ever done is use that file in the Mach 3 software to operate the  router.

I have been playing with your suggestions this morning and I haven't really seem to get an further.

No, they work well together.
You can't mix Inc and Abs IJ modes.

If CamBam is outputting Inc, Mach3 must be set to Inc as well.

And they are Modal.

You evidently have some files of each.

Russ,

ok I will give that a try and see what happens,
it just seem weird it started doing it all of a sudden from one day to the next.

I will advise if I have any luck.
