brand-newbie needs help setting up plasma/router table
« on: July 08, 2007, 06:31:05 PM »
Hi everyone,

I am having a dickens of a time setting up my table, and don't know
where to start. I bought a dual plasma/router table from DynaCNC.
I am attempting to use a computer I have already. It is windows Vista
powered and I added an additional parallel port yesterday. I have
followed all Mach3 vista set up instructions, but still can't get my
table to do anything.

When I reset mach 3 I get an external emergency stop request. What I
can deduce is that my parallel port is in conflict with itself. it is
a multi I/o card and the LPT2 listing says that is range is in use
already. Of course it is in use with the multi i/o function.

I assume that this is causing port to not provide the correct
information to the controller. When I disable port 2, I actually can
get to cycle through the three axis, but only in the software. My
table does not move.

I suppose I should have sprung for a computer along with my machine
that was already configured.. but I had an extra sitting around.
Where should I start to determine what is the problem?

Can you beg or borrow a win XP machine from somewhere and set up Mach3 on that.  If you can, you can then copy all the Mach3 setting from the XP machine onto your *********sta machine.  You will get a lot more help using XP.

Graham.

Hi, Thejoose

Post your pin info for the P-port connection's and a copy of your .XML file.

Your XML file is the Name you start Mach3 with "Mach3Mill", "Mach3Plasma" or whatever you click on at Mach startup window.

It's located in the Mach3 folder " Mach3****.XML, Use Vista Explorer or Equivlent to find it.

Use the Reply button to post it with Additional Options, Browse and Attach.

Could be as simple as an Enable pin setting.

Thanks, Chip
