Issue with X & Y
« on: December 23, 2015, 12:17:28 AM »
Using Mach3 just installed a tb6600 and 3 HY-DIV268N-5A.. All is working correctly except on my keyboard for my laptop I normally use the arrow keys to jog the X & Y. They do move but the up arrow normally moves the X, but it moves the Y and the right arrow moves the X not the Y.
Any ideas of how I can fix this? ???

Config. / System Hotkeys    The settings made here will allow you to allocate keyboard keys of you choice to the various directions of jog.

ok for some reason on my display in Mach3 the X is moving along the Y axis as is the Y moving along the X axis. When looking at the actual table it is going the correct way but in Mach3 it shows my table as being 19" long and 30" wide, but its the other way around.

If you want to operate the machine the way you show in the video, then you should swap the X and Y axis on your machine.
You can not change the orientation of the axis in the toolpath display.
X is always left to right.
Y is always front to back.

By changing the hotkeys from the defaults, you made is so your arrow keys don't match what you see in the toolpath display.

Your options are to either swap the X and Y axis, or operate the machine from the side, where it will match the toolpath display.

Ok ger21 so with my table being 30" long that is the Y axis and 19" wide which is the X axis? I thought the length was X...?

Typically, yes, the longer axis is the "X". But many people call the axis along the gantry the X axis, so that what they see on the screen matches what they see at the machine.
You can't display the toolpath with X going from top to bottom (front to back). So you either stand at the side of the machine, or swap the axis, if you want what's on the screen to match what you're looking at at the machine.

So from the changes you guys have made me recheck, we found that we had X & Y backwards on the wiring and now that I know the Y is the length and X is the width, we are good to go. Everything is working just as it should. You guys are awesome!! Thank you very much for you quick responses and info.
I will be back when I come across a dumb issue. :)

 Thanks again!
