text with mach3 HELP!

I have been trying to machine text with mach3 but no matter how or where I generate the g-code the output does not match what is on the screen can someone tell me an easy way to do text I have pulled all my hair out. I have attached a photo of what I get every time I try text

Are you using the engraving wizard or trying to hand generate gcode?  I recommend F-engrave as a free package to generate engraving gcode from text.

Your machine has a tremendous amount of backlash, for one thing. You need to fix that first.

And post a pic of what it's supposed to look like.

I tried F-engrave and the results were worse it is the scribble on the bottom of the photo I will upload a photo of what it was to look like later today

can you tell me what is backlash and how do I fix it thanks

Hi all got this sorted at last while looking for answers on backlash I found that my mach3 had set backlash to 2 in the x and 2 in the y I had not done this so don't know if this is a program default so I set them both to 0 and I am now getting exactly what is on screen. I am now very happy thanks for the replies.
