Controlling coolant pump using mach3
« on: March 22, 2015, 06:54:43 AM »
Hi All
Can anyone please give me some help with this?
I am trying to power a coolant pump using mach3 from a my 5 axis breakout board.
This is what I have done: I have checked flood mist coolant outputs 3 and 4 in spindle set up and enabled them in outputs to pin 5.
I have wired a small 5v relay to pin 5 and grd.(The relay is a Songle srd 5vdc).
When I command coolant from Mach screen the light illuminates on the 5v relay but the relay does not close.
At first I thought it was because I was using the usb cable from the pc to power the board not producing enough current, so I have now fitted a 5vdc power supply to power the breakout board.
It is still the same. I have checked power to the relay and there is about 6-7 volts there but it will not close the relay. If I put power directly to the relay it closes as it should.

I am presuming that the breakout board is restricting the current????

I have attached a copy of the manual for the breakout board I am using although it is very limited.

Any help would be great and appreciated.
