MXL file
« on: March 09, 2015, 04:41:36 PM »
I have a licensed mach3 on an old bridgeport conversion
It took me a long time and lots of study to finally get it up and running
I have a buddy running the same setup  only now we are adding limit switches XYZ and soft limits to his ,( mine already has this )
With this added we can REF ALL HOME on his, like mine does
can i coppy my MXL file and replace his  MXL so we dont have to do all the
port pins step direction soft limits ETC.
Again both of us have license mach3 with bobcad
will this work

There are many settings in the XML, and not likely that both set-ups will be identical in every way.
You would probably be far better off to just review the pertinent settings, then duplicate them on the newly configured machine.

There's really not that many changes to be made and they are basically straightforward.

That would be my method,

Russ thanks for the quick response
We are basic hobby people and want both machines the same if possable
we both have boss5 machine with PMDX126 with GECKO drives ESS  I mean TWINS
IT is not the work that hampers me it is finding all the little, enable, and this will go high, and the many screens that i spent 2  full weekends
running back in the house watching YOUTUBE on how to set it up
we are both just starting to learn what we are doing
I know a lot is trial l and error but mine tends to be more error than most people
we were planning to do this over the phone  (50 miles away) walking through each screen at a time
I was just hoping there would be a way to do it and take out the chance of error
thanks
Harry

Sure, you can copy it, no problem.
Just be aware, if they are not "Identical" you might be creating more headaches than you'd expect.
Be absolutely sure that you save his original running XML so you can go back if necessary.
(I gather his is running fine, he's just adding the switches) That's just a few simple settings.

Give it a whirl, and .... I wish you the best.

Well Thanks
now you have me second guessing myself
we do intend to have these machines as twins so we can work together on projects
we even have matching pendants
and i am far from being the best at any computer, If there is a chance of messing it up i will succeed
I just remember, that wall i hit while trying to get mine right, it took what seems like forever
now i cant remember back that far
I will take your advice  and try to make the changes
however i will save his file for a backup
Again
Thanks
Harry
