Problem with Mach 4 Jogging display:

Configuration:
ESS, Motors #0-#3 (X, Y, Z, A)

Problem Description:
Set Jogging display for Mode = "Step", Increment = 1.000.  Only the Z (Motor #3) increments by 1.000 for each click of the <Z+> or <Z-> jog button.  All other jog buttons are Mode = "Continuous"

I started with a new machine configuration last night.  Is there a setting I might have missed??

Maybe I should delete the directory and start over.

TimGS,

Your issues seems to be related to the issue I reported with the ESS.  In my case Mach4 did not see the ESS on startup and would ask if I wanted to try and connect again.  You try that repeatedly and nothing happens.  Then I check the diagnostics for ESS and nothing is populated.  Next I unplug the parallel cable from the ESS and sudden the motors start moving across the table and I have to kill the power switch.  I never even touched the jog buttons on the screen. About 85% of the time when I start MACH4 it finds the ESS fine and I have no issues.  Now if I can figure out why MACH4 does not like the POKEYS plugin I could start working on my pendant.  LOL

I noticed that when configuring Mach 4 and Plugins like the ESS the Mach 4 software seems to be unstable.  I find myself configuring then restarting to make sure nothing is goofy {A technical term :)) }

As far as being similar, they could be.  I will start the machine up from a power off state and try to recreate and isolate the problem.

The question is where is the problem; in the ESS or Mach 4?  Once the jogging switches are mapped to the jogging functions does the ESS service the interrupt directly and process the jogging inputs or does the input signal get serviced by the Mach 4 core and sent back to the ESS as a step and direction.

"If you have physical switches tied to your jogging inputs and you touch a switch prior to enabling Mach 4 the motors will start moving and not stop!!!!!!

Type of controller: ESS"

I reported this a while back, I'm using Darwin and have the keyboard set up for jogging.  little panic when the machine starts moving when ya don't expect it to. wasn't sure if it was just my setup or something with Mach4.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, and I have asked that question in the Modbus thread, but thought I would enter it here also in case it is a bug and these are being collected.

Creating coils in Modbus does not create corresponding registers.

Is this a bug or is there a different procedure to access coils?

"What are jogging inputs?"

Jog Axis +/-
e.g. Jog X+, Jog X-,Jog Y+... Physical switches or screen <buttons> that are mapped to Command axis to jog in the +/- direction
