DMC-4080 Mill Retrofit
« on: May 19, 2014, 08:38:44 AM »
Hi I have tried looking for past posts on this subject but have not been able to find a specific answer.

I am using a DMC-4080 to control three AC servo drives (Teknix SST-3100) on a BP Boss retrofit.  I have tuned the drives which seem to be working well.  As the drives take step and direction signals I am using the DMC in stepper mode.

However, my drives also give the option of linking the limit switches directly to the drive.

My question is should I use the drives limit switches or those on the Galil?  My initial thoughts were that I should wire them to the Galil as this communicates with Mach 3.  Putting them on the drive would isolate any chance of such communication with Mach 3.

Any views much appreciated

Barry

Yes, wire them to the Galil.
