hopefully someone will figure out what is the cause of this noise. I have just picked up 8 dell optiplex gx620 desktops and i've loaded xp and mach3 on all, on the first four two have the noise issue and two are fine...strange.

In the bios, disable C1E or EIST if you have them. Also, disable any unused hardware in the bios.

I also have six novatech ibm clones with the same problem, i'll try them when i've finished the current conversion.

Make sure ACPI is set to standard on all of them. I know the OP has it this way.
I run an old $20 GX150 and it needs ACPI set to standard to run smoothly.
