If it is definitely the same profile you have opened then the only way to find where the problem is, is to start checking with a voltmeter or better a scope.
Using a volt meter you can start at the Dir pins on the parallel port itself and connect the voltmeter between the Dir pin and one of the Gnd pins of the port, jog that axis one way then the other and you should see the voltage change between 5v and 0v depending on the direction you jog. You can then move on to the rest of the system checking things if the port looks ok.

back running again
I removed and put the wires from the drivers back on breakout board making sure I wasn't clamping on insulation
started it up and every thing is working again
hopefully this solves my problem.

Problem is back last time I shut down the power strip and that caused the shut down
after I got it running again it run great even ran a couple programs
I had to shut power strip again now I can't get the motors to run
nothing was changed in setup just shut it down
if I don't turn power strip off no problems
I'm I messing .xml files and if so how do I get it straighten out?
