Stepper motor steps velocity and acceleration
« on: December 01, 2013, 11:54:17 AM »
Hi another noob here, Just want some advice on my settings i useing nema 23 300 Oz now i made a booboo as instead of doing a reduction on me plasma table iv gone direct drive  mod 1.5 rack with a 15 tooth gear. I used the auto calibration in mach3 my driver is set to 1/8th and ive ended up with 22.5 steps iv set the velocity at 6000 and acceleration at 1000 x and y axis runs ok but wasent sure these setting would do any damage to my drivers or steppers.
i will be doing a gear reduction before the mod 1.5 rack in the future but  just want to get things running for now any advice would be great thx

Dont think Velocity or Accel could do any damage, the motors would stall if things are too high and steppers dont get damaged from stalling as far as I am aware.

Thanks Hood for that info as my idear is to use the table first to cut out my parts needed for my gear reduction
Thanks again
