Author Topic: Auto Setting Steps on new machine, then trouble with old code  (Read 3966 times)

Had Mach3 running on my old machine which used lead screws on all 3 axis.  Recently tore it down and rebuilt it much larger and with pulley and belt drive.  Used "auto setting of steps per unit" and got Mach3 re-calibrated to the new machine and when finished I can  tell it to move one inch and I get exactly that.

Then tried some g-code that the old machine had run successfully and on the new machine all axis just move slightly...like it wasn't calibrated and is just barley budging when it should move a much larger distance.

When jogging under manual keyboard everything just barley moves. To get any batter jog speed I have to go under "motor tuning" and set "velocity" to at 5000 in/min or some other unrealistic number.

Any ideas? Did I overlook something?

Do you have your native units set to mm when it should be inches?

I thought of that. Nope, it's still at inches.

Did you save your settings after recalibrating, then close Mach and restart it , and then try the old gcode?

You would think save settings would take care of it. Not sure what the manual say's as i am too lazy to look it up right now. :D
