Faster output
« on: March 20, 2013, 05:27:31 PM »
Hi
I have made laser, which is controlled by Mach3. To turn laser on and off I used the spindle output and function of M3 and M5.
Laser power is controlled by PWM output.
This all works well and good.

The problem only occurs at the end of cutting or engraving because laser does not go off fast enough.
The function M3 takes too long to turn off laser.
I put to 0 all delays for spindle on and off , and is still not fast enough.

Is there any alternative to turn on and off laser faster?

I have to say that I am using ESS and the transistor to turn on and off the laser - no relay!

Thanks for the suggestions!

There is some more information here http://hobbycncart.com/publ/cikkek/mach3_temaju_cikkek/switching_a_laser_under_mach_control/8-1-0-29 but I have not tested the performance when operating via the ESS.

Thanks for the links
Unfortunately, none of the proposed function (M10P1, M11P1 or E1P0, E1P1) does not work on my version of MACH3 (R3.043.066)
I've tried different combinations with axis move but does not work.
If I turn on and off Output1 with M3 it works but too slow

Is it really only one possibility for fast output -  phantom axis?

Thanks

That's strange because I use Mach3 R3.043.066 and the M10P1 / M11P1 work just fine here with my laser so perhaps have your configurations set up incorrectly.

The M10P1/M11P1 commands produce a signal on Output#1 which in turn should be configured to the LPT port output pin of your choice. The chosen output pin number should not be enabled for any other function (ie. spindle) within your configuration.

Did you choose the options in the ESS plugin for that?

I did not even notice this option in ESS

Now I have choose the options and it works!!! :D

Mach3 is really  perfect program and also all of you who help us.

Thank you all!

I am really pleased that you have got it working OK.

This is, I think, another classic example of Mr Hood's brilliance of knowledge and determination to help others.
