smoothstepper and x axis
« on: November 24, 2012, 11:04:28 AM »
I have finally got  round to installing my Usb smooth stepper which I have had for a few years now
I Have  PMDX 126 Board and a PMDX 107 Im running mach 3 .034.066 using machstdmill  screen set
The problem that I have is that everything works  great except that my X axis will not move at all
it works perfectly with the Parallel port but not with the smooth stepper.
Any help would be much appreciated as Im  getting very dispondant with this,

John

Dont see anything wrong in the xml, when you jog/MDI/command from code does the DRO in Mach move?

Try changing the pin numbers for X and Y and see if the X now moves, it will now be your Y axis.

Hi Hood
changed pin outs for x and y axis so what should be y axis is moving as x axis now
but x axis which is now the y axis is not moving but shows as moving in Dro.

Ok so if I am thinking right then it seems the SS is putting out the pulses correctly, so seems to be a drive/motor/wiring issue. Cant understand why it works with the PP though as that would suggest it isnt the issue. Strange one indeed.

I would guess that there is a bad connection in the LPH26 to DB25 cable. I had one with a bad solder joint on one point. Pull the black cover off and look at the solder joints.
Happy machining , Jeff Birt

Hi Jeff
do you mean the short cables that go from the pmdx board to the smoothstepper
