Homing does not see home switches.CRASH!!!!
« on: October 22, 2012, 12:28:12 PM »
Hi All

I have a lathe set up running under the normal mill screen

I have X & Z + & - limits and home sensors on X & Z

When I press home off it goes and ignores the home switches and crashes into the end of travel!!

When I look at the diagnostic page all appears fine and the switches all show up activating when they should ??

It used to work fine I don't know of anything I have done that could have caused this serious problem

I really need some help on this if you can

Thanks John

Home Off? Are you meaning RefAll?
If you attach your xml I will see if there is a problem in your config.

Thank you for your reply, found the problem.............Noise
Supprised a bit as I thought mach might have seen a poor signal on what is basically just an on-off signal.
I know the source of the noise is the inverter but all the cables are shielded and grounded so don't know why I have problems with the original harness.
I ran a new cable to cure the problem, I had to do that before for the spindle index and encoder. I hope I don't have to do it for the 4 limit switches, they are just micro switches, not sensors so might be OK.
The lathe is a nice Denford Easyturn3 with the old combivert inverter. Waiting for a PWM to 0-10v add on to get full control of the spindle.
I have used the "Leafboy77" control which has so far been a great and easy board. Seems better (easier) than the smooth stepper I did my router table with.
It has 16 inputs + spindle RPM, all with indicator led's, which gives plenty of scope right off the board. I would give it a big + to anyone thinking of using one.

My home switches are working but there is no indication in the diagnostic screen (lighted segment) in the home switches area.  There is only a lighted led indicated in the printer port configuration when the switches are pressed on the mill.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ehe xml is the file that holds your config.
If you open Mach and look lower right you will see the profile name you are using. Close Mach and then go to the Mach folder and find a file with that name and a xml file extension, copy it to your desktop and rename it to something like songlight.xml then use the additional options button on the reply page to attach it.
