Newbie question's???
« on: February 02, 2007, 12:03:48 AM »
First, could someone post the Equation for Steps per inch.  I have done a search but all posts seem to have a dielic in paragraph form.

1/8 microstep
Step Angle 1.8 degree (200 spr)
.200 pitch BallScrew

Second, my Softlimits are set up as X=8.5-max 0-min, Y=4-max 0-min, Z= 0-max -7-min. When viewing the table display, my Z axis depth boundary lines are not 7 inches they seem to be at a very deep depth like 30 inches.  X and Y are fine (did restart program)

Third, For reference,  I use 8000 Steps per inch, and calculated about .0136 for my backlash.  Nook Ballscrew and standard ballnut not preloaded. Does this  seem close? But yes alot of backlash. or after I use the correct Steps per inch will this be closer to .008 or even .005 (all axis's are tight )

Thanks Mark

8000 steps per is right for your setup. I would rather see preload adjustable nuts. I have attached my XML for you to compare your settings to and a link to pictures of my machine so it will give you an idea of how it all works.
