Problem relating program coordinates to machine coordinates
« on: September 30, 2012, 09:43:56 PM »
Hello

Hope someone can help me.

I've followed the Mach3Turn manual step by step through sections 7.3 (Referencing the machine) and 7.4 (Chucking stock and setting Z program coordinates) five times.
When I click cycle start, the X axis goes all the way to the opposite end of its travel before trying to form the profile I've programed.

Please offer any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong.

You may have your Z axis set wrong or your code may be wrong. Z0 is normally set to the end of the stock and moving towards the chuck is a Z Negative move.

You may want to have a read of Appendix "F" of Mach3 Turn-Threading on the lathe, pay attention to the figures shown.
