305 motor stalling
« on: March 31, 2013, 06:24:45 AM »
HI
I'm just starting out with CNC, I currently have Hobbycnc board, I'm having trouble getting my X axis to run smoothly.
my y axis 205 stepper motor 3V 3A runs perfectly
my X axis is a 305 stepper motor 4.2V 3A
it runs in jog mode fine but when running a test g code it stalls and vibrates
I have tried changing the velocity and the acceleration, but I can either get it to run smoothly at low speeds or at high speeds but never both

Probably best to ask HobbyCNC as they will know their drives. There may be  midband adjustment on them which may or may not help.
One other thing you could try is enable Sherline mode to see if that helps, also if you are running a higher kernal than  25KHz (when not needed) then that could cause issues.
