Machine will not calibrate
« on: May 09, 2012, 08:17:48 PM »
trying to calibrate new machine i am getting no wear i keep going to far then not far enough then to far way to far then not far enough. i am only doing one mm at a time it could go .30mm, 1.9mm, 1.9mm, .09mm, 1.3mm then it will go mad then it will go 1.3 so i will put in it went 1.15 so it gets it close but it will end up at more than 1.15or a lot less.
i can tall the machine to move the same amount every time and it give a consent number of say .90 then .96 then .90.
can some one help please

Use the axis calibrate feature which can be found in the left hand corner of the screen after clicking the Settings (Alt  6) tab as that can quickly get your steps correct. If you don't want to use that feature then calculate them. Make sure you save the settings. Then check for backlash. Suggest the calibration move you make be close to the longest move the axis can make.

Assume your using steppers. Lower the velocity and accel so it is not skipping when calibrating then find the max velocity and accel.
