Is this drawing too much for LazyCam?
« on: January 02, 2007, 01:12:23 PM »
This is a pretty simple drawing but LC doesn't seem to know what to make of it.  If I load it I've got rapids running everywhere, but auto clean, regardless of settings, makes a mess of it.
There also seems to be a lot of confusion over inside and outside lead ins.

Can somebody please load this into LC and see what the problem is.

Thanks

Hi, Mills

Try this one, loaded it into my Turbocad 8 and saved it loads fine now.

When you save your DXF save it in oldest Acad DXF format you have, ver 12 or 14,r

LazyCam  is-sent compatible with all DXF formats.

Hope this Helps, Chip

Does LCam have to be loaded on the same PC as Mach ??
Crashes everytime I try to open any dxf ,  even the one listed above ?

Get that window where it ask ya to let Microsoft know about the problem thingie .
Then shuts LCam down ..
Already reinstalled/downloaded

Hi, Yodawill

I think its stand-alone, haven't checked it out in a while, I now it likes to be in a folder named Mach3 though.

Needs Win2000 or XP to run.

Hope this Helps, Chip

Weird ..
I created a folder named Mach3 and copied LCam and the drawing in there ..
Same error.
No biggie ..  Just wanted to see what it was all about !!   ;D

Thanks afn09556, but I must be doing something really wrong here because you're drawing ends up looking even worse than the original in LC. And now it has a mysterious empty 4th layer as well as broken chains in layer 3.  All the panes in that window now have a two part cut with a rapid in the middle (that's how it cuts now) although LC only shows a single start point for each chain.
And then there's still the mess with the lead ins. The only thing auto clean seems to be able to do is make the entire drawing disappear.

The drawing I originally posted was an R12 DFX file according to TurboCad Mac and I've previously had problems with a few people not being able to open them with whatever programs they draw and cut with. So far there's no problem opening them in Mach3 or LC.
I Draw in TurboCad Mac and then transfer to the Mach3 PC on a Zip disk.
I'm running the latest version of Mach3 and LazyCam.

I've already cut quite a few very similar shapes with this setup of Mach3/LazyCam and have had much better results even though it's usually hit or miss with the lead ins and tool compensation.
There has to be something simple that I'm overlooking because cutting a simple 2d design can't possibly be this frustrating.

Hi, Mills

Hear is the LC File its set to 10 in min .5 Z depth, give it a try, you can edit the speeds and depth.look.

The ver of Mach2 i'am using is 2.0.031 hear, Optimise, 10% and Remove Duplicated Lines  checked.

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Mills

I figured out the problem on the (Gcode) Posting Options page change the PreAmble to Post code Output Window to look like this,

G90
G80 G40

This is a reported problem, just not fixed yet, cant have G90 and aG91.1 on the same line.

Dose the same thing Hear.

Hope this Helps, Chip

Hi Chip,
It was still all messed up. I threw that file away and redrew the part and now it's working fine. I had a similar problem with a different drawing last night but I redrew it and then it was fine.  It's got to be something that's happening while drawing in TuboCad Mac that's causing it, but whatever it is it's beyond me at this point.  One thing I learned  through this ordeal is to draw my TC files in a single layer and then add additional layers to it while in LazyCam. Maybe that's not the correct way to go about it, but for now it's what works.

The main problem here is that I'm trying CAD CAM and CNC all at once and I'm in a rush because I can't afford much more down time in the shop. It's all sinking in little by little but it's still very easy to get confused.

thanks for your help,
Mike
