Motor Control Requires a Reboot
« on: January 31, 2012, 07:54:05 PM »
I’m new to Mach 3, but I had some experience with the old Mac system.  I’m running Windows XP on an old P4 machine.

The system seems to loose connection to the printer port periodically.  For all indication the software is still running, the DROs count and the tool path keeps track of the position.
It consistently fails if you enter key board commands while using the software.   If you make changes to a txt file while Mach 3 is running it doesn’t fail.

The system has a PS2 keyboard and a USB mouse.

Most of the time rebooting corrects the problem, but not consistently.
Thanks all.

If it looks that the problem is the PC I would start by changing it. Try another one.
On the machine that I am currently testing only the 3rd computer tested gets along with Mach!

Bring up Task Manager and see how busy the CPU is.

Cheers
