Downloads locking up could be caused from several avenues. The "behind the scenes" settings and plug-ins in FF can cause problems. Firewall settings/permissions and other Internet Security settings can cause it.

With all the security needed to safely surf the web any more, it becomes tough to determine exactly which hole the rabbit went down!

Have not had a single server reset since the post started.
Still loads a little slow but no problem.
