Newbie? when cutting y-axis is not moving correct length
« on: January 04, 2012, 11:07:31 AM »
I am new to this area.  I generated some g-code , when cutting the piece one of the y-axis does not move as far as the g-code states.

steps taked:
calibrated machine
created DXF in AutoCad
created toolpath in Aspire - save as g-code (inch)

the y-axis movement should be .25 inch but moving about 1/3 of it.

this is repeatable and error in the exact same place.  I even moved the starting point to see if calibration issue.
if starting at 0,0 on the table or at the farthest point on the table I get the exact same results.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

It looks as if you are loosing steps, slow the machine down by 50% on acceleration and velocity and try again.

Without engineers the world stops

I will give it a try.  right now everytime I try milling anything I get "limit switch" when the machine only moved 7" on the x-axis and 5" on the y-axis.

no where need the phyiscal limit switches.  the logical limits are 42" for x and 24" for the Y.

the "abmornal condition" state axis are not refed to normal conditions"

should as I figure out how to clear this I will slow down the machine.

thanks for yor help.

OK,  hav ean interface issue with the limit switches,  fixed that :-)

I lowered the velocity / acceleration down 50% same issue in the exact same spot on the piece.  seem to be the first movement up the yaxis.
the first move of the cut is a yaxis movement toward home and that is perfect.

I am starting my cut at 0,0 do you think moving the starting work location could make a diferrence?

moving velocity / accel low or high does not seem to make a diferrent it sems to be at the same point each time.

could it be the torque of the motor I am using is not strong enough?
