"mark as read"
« on: December 19, 2011, 05:38:22 AM »
Hello all,

I am still battling to find out how to "mark as read" for a topic on the topis list

Scenatio is as follows -
I open the tab to general discussion on mach3 and a list of current topics titles  is displayed
Now I would like to eleiminate the topice which do not interest me.

If the topic does not interest me then I dont want that title to display next time i open
the discussion.

how is this done??

best regards fred

Fred, when you're on the main page of the forum, you'll see the gray and green icons like these:

The green means there are new posts in that section, and the gray are ones without new posts anywhere in that section.

When on the main page, and at the bottom you click the "Mark as Read" button, any green icons will turn gray.

Now when you choose one of those sections that have a green icon, for the posts that you haven't read yet, you'll see this icon:

When you click mark as read, those "NEW" icons should go away.

Hope that helps-
Dave

Thank you Dave - now it is clearing up and i see the meaning of the colours you describe

On the "general discussion" level there is a list of page numbers (which currently goes as far as page 167)

I want to browse all the topics since the beginning of the forum- but there are to many to do at one sitting.

therefore when i start to browse the topics i would like a way of marking the topics that i have already read

is it possible to mark all topics as "unread" so that by selecting " show unread topics since last visit "

the board will display all unread topics from the beginning of the forum?

My first prize would be to browse say 4 pages at a sitting- that will mean that at the end of about

40 days i will have read everything
thanks fred

Hi Fred, unfortunately I do not think that is possible, although maybe an Administrator may know how to do something like that and chime in for you.

Personally, I would just start to make a note after I've read a certain topic and then the next time, I would note to the page at the current moment and then add to the current page if the "167" page number grows for you since your last visit.

Thanks dave,
I am going to try this work round.
If possible I will mark all topics as watched and then remove the switch when done

any suggestions??

regards

Actually, I wouldn't mark them all as "read", that way at least if you get lost, you'll know that you didn't read a certain post.  :)
