Digitizing question
« on: November 25, 2011, 08:19:22 PM »
So if I touch probe digitize using Mach and the wizard does it only give me the xyz data and or a G code of the finished part, and if so, how do I account for the raw stock that has to be removed or do I have to shift the profile down in the Z to the finished size.
The old way of digitizing models would be to scan the part with a sylus of the diameter of the cutter for roughing and keep reducing the sylus diameter and cutter for semi finish then finish.
Ray.

It just gives you the XYZ point data.

You'll need a program to convert that to a 3D model or mesh, and a CAM program to create g-code.

Try MachCloud on the downloads page to convert the points to an .stl file
