Scaling problem
« on: January 31, 2006, 11:38:31 AM »
# Newbie #  Could anyone tell me why when I have converted a simple drawing
of about 6" x 8" to gcode, and then imported to mach2, the toolpath is a lot
smaller even if I change from  mills to inches. Is the scale lost in conversion to
gcode or can I alter something in mach2.? Any help much appreciated.

Hi:

What kind of import. Usually, the size is contained in the import file, Mach uses that to determine the code to put out.
Or is this Gcode import form a cam program?

Hi thanks for the reply
I convert the pic to code using Deskart then import to mach2.
the pics are normally wmf or bmp format.

Hi:

If so, then your importing Gcode form DesklArt, since Gcode is, by its nature, accurate to the requested size, it must be a setting in DeskArt.

Look at the extents information on the toolpath page. It shows the Gcode max and min for each axis. It is what Deskart is putting out..

Many thanks Art
had a look in Deskart, and looked at the settings.
you were right, the default output makes everything
smaller (never thought to check that!)
sorted!
