G540 and CNC4PC c19 speed controller trouble
« on: July 06, 2010, 03:54:08 PM »
I have a new router that uses a G540 and I would like to use a C19 speed controller ( http://www.cnc4pc.com/Store/osc/product_info.php?cPath=25&products_id=155 )  from CNC4PC.com to control my Bosch 1617 spindle.  Has anyone done this and do you know the proper settings in Mach 3?  I have G540 position 6 (Pin 1) hooked to the Enable 1 spot, the VFD ground, VFD output and VFD +10VDC hooked up to the proper place on the c19.  I have the Dip switchs set to 50 HZ and 0-10VDC control.  I have Spindle Enabled in Motor Outputs and 14 as my Step pin and 1 as my direction pin with Dir. Low Active enabled.  Under Spindle Setup, I have Use Spindle Motor Output enabled with Step/Dir. control enabled.  I have Relay enabled with output #1.  Under Output Signals I have Output #1 set for pin 1.

Are things wired correctly and do I have the proper settings?  Any help would be greatly appreciated

Afraid I know nothing of the CNC4PC stuff but hopefully this bump to the top will let someone, who has, notice it.

hi
i was just looking over the instructions to the c19 the question i wouls ask is are you wired to pin 14 or 16 for step. i would suggest you hook up a 5k ohm pot which can be considered a volume control if you are not familiar with them you can get one from your local electronics store. the point is hook it up manually and see if you can control the speed this way once you get the speed control to work you can tackle mach and know the control is functioning. next call or email arturo cnc4pc he is very helpful and knowledgeable can be hard to get ahold of good luck

There is a lot of info in Chris's PDF which you can download from here http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=15457.0;attach=21882

Why use the C19? The G540 has an analog output to drive a VFD. I used the G540 on the MiniMill I did for the CNCworkshop and it was the best speed control I have found.
