E-Stop LED Output/Pin Output
« on: May 07, 2011, 06:25:04 PM »
Is it possible to have Mach toggle an output Port Pin on and off when in E-Stop??

I want to add a large red light to the Mill that will run off a solid state relay. If there is a way to have Mach turn on or off an output pin, i can find a way to do it. It would be extra nice if it would "flash" the pin but i would be happy with just on or off LOL!

How about using one of the enable outputs?

I think all outputs switch off when Mach is in E-Stop but the benefit of the enables is they will switch on without any additional means when Mach comes out of reset, so they sound like the ideal way. Also a NC relay would work the light perfectly as Mach would open the relay thus switching the light off when not in E-Stop. Flashing would require some additional components but I think you get flashing LEDs which may be worth looking into.

I will play with this a bit.

I have some nice 25 amp Solid state relays with LED inputs that can run of the printer port directly. it wouldn't flash but it would light up a 60watt bulb just fine. but i could also use the port to trigger a 555 timer and a SSR and then i could flash the bulb.
