No appology necessary, I can let it run while I'm running .... or sleeping. I hope to get DSL in the next year or two. Too stubborn to subscribe to the satellite systems. Can't quite justify it.
My current speed is 36 kbps but it's all I can afford.

So far so good.  ;D

In Glary Utilities / Modules / Optimize & Improve / Start up Manager, you can view all the programs that are invoked at start-up and if your little dialer is there it can be deleted along with anything else you don't need that slows down start up. There are many other menus and optimization tools including 1-Click Maintenance which helps to lean the registry amongst other things.
