DXF import fails everytime and gives illegal argument error.
« on: October 18, 2006, 03:08:46 PM »
Using Corel Draw and Autocad 2004, I saved my simple square box (also tried simple circle)  in every available version of DXF. (2004,2000, R13,14...) I attempt to bring it into Lazycam and I get an illegal argument error or sometimes just an error box with no description in it.  I downloaded a sample DXF that someone else posted in the forum and it came into Lazycam OK.

I reinstalled Mach3 and Lazycam...same results.  Tried different compute....same results.

Any ideas or tips would be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks,

jr

Post your .dxf here, in V12 format.

Someone told me to try R12 format would work and I tried it with success.  Since it is working for me I will not post a file.  I assume that the 2000 and 2004 Acad formatts do not work in Lazy Cam.  If the R12 format works that will be fine.

Thanks for responding.

Are you using splines by chance? If so. splines are converted to polylines in V12 .dxf's, but not in newer formats. That may be causing the problem.

I recently ran into this same problem when trying to import a simple circle.  After a lot of fiddling around to no avail, I added a simple square to my .dxf and everything imported OK into Lazy cam and then I deleted the square in Lcam.  So, I think the problem is importing the arcs/circles???

That is odd ... I will have to try that.
