home / limit switches
« on: December 12, 2010, 11:30:21 PM »
I know this is a simple question, but I can't find the answer.

My flame table has both overtravel limit switches, and home position limit switches.  The problem is that the home limit switches act like the overtravel switches when the gantry is moving.  This normally is not a problem when I cut 4 x 8 plate, but it I don't have the 5 x 10 plate loaded just right then it will hit the x home limit switches.

Can anyone tell me where the box is I need to check?

thanks

Steve

How have you got the switches wired? If you have seperate home switches then you can not have them in series with the limits as Mach will treat them limit switches at all times other than when homing.

Hood-

All of the overtrave limit switches are wire in series and connect to the e-stop circuit.   These are working fine.   The home switches are each run to their own input.

I am using the bob from Candcnc if that matters.

Thanks

Can you attach your xml, if the home switches are wired independant of the limits then they should have no effect on Mach unless you are actually homing as that is the only time Mach pays attention to them.

You seem to have some I/O set to ports other than the normal 1 and 2, not sure if thats something to do with the hardware you use.
What hardware do you actually have, is it just the parallel port or are you using some other devices to connect I/O?

Hood-

It is from candcnc.com  It uses two paralle ports.

You have Port4 and Port 8 set up for a lot of the I/O, this may be confusing Mach and causing your problems.
