Look to be fake
« on: January 28, 2011, 02:59:38 PM »
Received an email from Ebay (not sure) today saying that my item has been mailed and should arrive soon.

From charlesthomas32(381 stars) .

There's a link with item number and the yellow button RESPOND

If you click on respond or the link for item number, you are taken to the log in page of ebay but I always stay log in for 24 hours.

That made me suspicious.

The email look real, even exactly the same Ebay send you.

If I go to Ebay with my favorite, I do not end up to the log in page but directly to my Ebay page.

There's a charlesthomes ebay member but has 2 feedbacks instead of 381 and item number does not exist.

I have received a lot of fake email in the past and always stay on my guard but this time, this one looks real.

Be aware and stay alert

Hi Jeff,

This scam has turned up before http://tv.groups.yahoo.com/group/RagsToRichesFans/message/4755 it links to a Phishing site intended to grab your details (and your vitals probably). Different names used in the past though.

Thanks for the tip, it shows we must all keep on our toes as far as parting with information is concerned.
Mind you someone would have to be extremely smart indeed to get one over on a Mach3 user.  ;D

Tweakie.
