z axis moving to far
« on: October 18, 2010, 08:13:31 PM »
Hi there,
First posted this in wrong place in Turn.
I have a small problem that is probably my own doing but I can't see how to correct it.I can be cutting wooden gears or any other profile fine for a few days, then for some reason  next time I try to start the Z axis runs to max plus. Nothing I do will stop it running to max. After messing around with mach3 for ages it will start behaving itself but I don't know why. Can anyone suggest what I am overlooking and how to correct problem. I am not all that familiar with mach3 as yet.
Thanks

Hi Bernie,

I am just guessing here but if, for example, your Z Axis has not been correctly zeroed before you start (Z Axis DRO) then this may happen. Another reason is 'safe Z' enabled (config/safe z setup) which could be incorrectly setup.

When the axis is going wrong can you jog in both directions? If not then sounds like a bad connection on the Z Dir wiring.
