Would anyone know where I can get a sleeve for my router to got from a 1/2 collet to a 10mm bit. I have one that goes from 1/2 to 3/8. I need to drill some 5mm holes for shelf pins in a cabinet so I have some 5mm bits with a 10mm shank. Any ideas would be helpful.  Im in the Brantford, Ontario area.

Have someone just turn a simple split sleeve on a lathe.

Putting 5mm boring bits in a router can be dangerous. There not really designed to spin  more than about 4000 rpm, I don't think. I've seen them bend before, and if they bend at 10,000 rpm, look out.

You can get 5mm router bits with a 1/4" shank, which would be a much better option. Or, use a 1/4" bit and get 1/4" shelf pins. That's what I do.

thanks ger21 I've tried to look for a bit source around here in Canada where we use the metric system ( but buy all lumber and bits in imperial ). As far as bending a bit i've never seen that happen before and I have use 3 to 35mm bits in our cnc as work for yrs running around 12,000rpm. I'm just drilling 7/16 into particale board, but ty again for the link for the bit sorce. Anyone out there care to machine me a simple split sleeve on a lathe??

Split reducer bushings can lead to horrible run-out. If you can chuck in a 1/2" shank would you be interested in an ER-16 adapter chuck? It will let you use ER-16 collets so you can chuck up about any size shank.

Those bits have a flat on the shank, don't they? Not sure how an ER collet would grab them.??

yes they do have a flat on the side and a ER collet holds them very well. I use the correct collet on my cnc at work but for my cnc at home I can only get a  1/4" , 3/8"  or 1/2 collet

The ER adapters I have will give you the entire range of ER16 collets.
