Version .036 and .037 changes
« on: February 15, 2010, 07:26:07 PM »
Hi Folks!

Does anybody know what the changes in .036 and .037 are?

When nothing is written in the changelog, it's not easy to decide, without knowing what works now and what stopped working    ;D

I think all that will be different is the updates Art has been doing in the PP driver for the threading in Turn.

Maybe, the community needs some reference G-code, which has to deliver a known behaviour...

For example CSS, threading and so on...

Wow, somebody finally agrees with me.

I've been pleading for the creation and continued update and maintainence of a set of "test suites" for Mach for years, that exhaustively test every feature and function it has, (and even offered to write some of them) but there hasn't been any internal or external support for the concept.

I still strongly believe it should be done, and these tests should be run and checked everytime a new release is created.

Threading tests are given in the  Threading on the Lathe Manual.
One down and a whole bunch more to go ....... ;)

Oh, BTW, if your into acr's take a look at Arc Motion as there are a whole bunch of G codes that you can run in the writeup.

Yeah, test suites, only to be run just in styrofoam   ::)   ;D

On the other hand, I have to mention that my personal micro-lathe is still in eeaarly construction stage (Z-Axis finally made some test-moves just last weekend...), and it will take some more months to get it all to work.
But when it's up and running, it's well spent time to "donate" some hours of work to this project.

So, should we start to collect what is worth to test?

Brian ---> we are doing this to be prepared for the lauch of v4   >:D
